Develop technical business application areas and manage complex Business Info systems projects using XML technologies (including processing in J2EE context) and knowledge of enterprise-scale software technologies, platforms,and web-based application frameworks.
Must have MBA, or Masters in MIS, with 4 yrs experience in IT project management and design of complex software technology for business applications, using XML technologies.

Leading one or more technical business application areas and software systems engineering and development projects of high complexity and criticality.
Controlling critical cross-functional teams, identifying and managing project risk and resulting impact on business and strategic plans.
Provide system development and technical support for critical technologies; implement complex technical strategies, and correct problems of a highly complex, critical nature. Provide detailed technical guidance and design of critical components
Initiate and conduct forward-looking analysis of the business environment and requirements of a variety of customers and define technical alternatives including choosing and developing technology standards.
Provide analysis and solutions to technical and business issues. Understand and apply technology and customer’s vision, setting direction on implementation.
Maintain awareness of business and technology strategies and implement technical alternatives and strategies to gain competitive advantage.
Manage vendor relationships, and maintain the complex technical infrastructure of assigned area to meet business requirements
Provide technical leadership and consultation to project team members. Initiate and conduct feasibility studies of new and modified operational procedures.
For large systems, prepare cost/benefit analyses, functional and detail specifications. Provide direct guidance in planning, designing, programming, documentation and implementation of the systems.
Perform reviews of new and existing systems to ensure operational integrity and accomplishment of stated objectives. Design, code, test, debug and document programs as required
Remain current on technical and professional advances and business strategies regarding area of responsibility. Serve as expert in area of responsibility; identify process improvements and problem prevention.
This position will focus on technologies in the emerging field of preservation of digital assets. The holder of this position must be highly innovative and trail blaze solutions to issues that have no current solution.
This position will play a leadership role in the creation of a new business activity for one of the leading software systems integrators in the United States. It will require a thorough understanding of the business issues in creating new technologies and bringing them to market as well as the technical competence to invent those technologies.
This position requires an individual with a broad range of skills and experience, both in business creation and consulting and in software technology innovation.
Business Creation / Consulting Requirements:
Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Computer Science (MSc)
4-5 years of professional experience, including
consulting and project management and
design of complex software technology and applications
Strong communication, project management, analytical, lateral thinking, planning and problem solving skills. Ability to interact at the most senior levels of management.
Demonstrated ability to create teams to develop new lines of business
Ability to plan and manage consulting engagements at the most senior level, ability to create intellectual capital that will distinguish the consulting offering
Software Design Requirements
Recognized expertise in a range of software technologies that are fundamental the emerging digital preservation field, including
XML technologies (Schema development, XSL, Xquery, etc.)
J2EE frameworks (application servers, controllers (JSF/AJAX)) web-based application frameworks
Data Storage technologies
Search technologies
Demonstrated ability to lead highly skilled technical team, excellent problem solving skills, ability to design solutions in totally new application areas
Demonstrable experience with project implement technology and the development of a comprehensive methodology and developed metrics for tracking its success
Digital Preservation Technology Expertise
Demonstrable expertise in information systems architecture and design of complex applications, especially in digital transformations, archival content management systems, metadata extraction, and metadata based search and analysis
In-depth, specialized, expertise in technical issues related to the preservation of digital assets and electronic records; including a thorough familiarity with aspects of archival science as it relates to electronic records
Proven ability to innovate in creating architectures and design for digital preservation technologies, the candidate MUST have architected, and created detailed designs of digital preservation components that have been proven in operational code
