Fenestra Technologies Wins U.S. Census Bureau 5-Year Contract

GERMANTOWN, Md -- Fenestra Technologies today announced that the U.S. Bureau of Census has awarded the company an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) task order type contract for Research and Development support in the area of Survey Engineering.

This new, task order type, research and development services contract was competitively awarded and calls for Fenestra to support Census with a broad range of information technology and architecture relating to Census’ changing collection, capture, publishing and reuse requirements.

“While this is the first time Fenestra has served as a prime contractor for Census, we have a proud 10-year heritage of supporting the Bureau with research, development, testing and evaluation. This new award signifies an expansion of the scope of our service to Census and extends our commitment to the mission-critical work it performs,” said founder and CEO, Rick Rogers.

“Our most recent R&D innovation for Census, the Generalized Instrument Design System (GIDS) for the 2002 Economic Census, successfully uses eXtensible Mark-up Language (XML) as both a data interchange format and a data storage format. GIDS also automates the forms design and survey response processes. This award allows us to help Census become even more digitized and customer centric.”

The work is expected to begin in October 2002 and to be completed by September 30, 2007, if all contract options are exercised. Fenestra anticipates hiring several more employees and subcontracting to other companies to support this contract in efforts to include studies, analysis and assessments; project planning, technical review and documentation for IT systems, software development; quality assurance and quality control of IT systems, test support services; and management of sensitive and secure data systems.
