United States Census Bureau Praises Project Outcomes

GERMANTOWN, Maryland, USA - Fenestra received a special commendation for its work with a major United States Census Bureau project. In essence, the company built a system to manage more than six hundred and fifty XML-based paper and electronic forms from a common content metadata repository on behalf of the Bureau.

"Fenestra's contributions in the development of the forms design system, developing a rules based layout process which automatically designs large sections of variable question content based on rules and style sheets and championing the use of XML for file transfers are commendable," says Thomas Mesenbourg, Census Assistant Director for Economic Programs. Fenestra's ability to streamline content-management and survey form publishing process will allow the 2002 Economic Census to offer respondents an electronic reporting option for all of its 650+ census forms.

This project demonstrates the power of XML and its dramatic contribution to key information management design, deployment and analysis. "This client will achieve significant cost savings by differentiating content from presentation, a cutting-edge technique that XML facilitates. We also applied XML interchanges when integrating two complex systems, one of which was a content management database," according to Rick Rogers, CEO of Fenestra.
